Hervé Léger Collection Inspired by the South Hervé Léger by Max Azria - New York

Season after season, the team at Hervé Léger by Max Azria takes the label's signature body-con dresses and proves that there are infinite ways to wrap a bandage.

Backstage before the show, designer Lubov Azria explained that the latest Spring batch was inspired by the quilts of Gee's Bend, a rural community in Alabama whose women have developed a distinct style of traditional patchworking over the past two centuries. The influence gave the collection an added dimensionality seen in geometric patterns and passementerie appliqué details. Look 21, a mauve-colored mini with a scalloping halter neckline and sapphire blue embroidery, best exemplified the new experimentation with texture here.

Elsewhere, kicky flared numbers featured basketwoven strips interlaced with silver chains that glinted on the runway, and sexy cutout maillot playsuits were intended for the toned and the brave. Harnesses accented each of the stretchy looks. Some of this was familiar territory, but those aforementioned textured pieces kept the lineup fresh.
